We are excited to announce our 2022 Back to the Bays Lecture Series that will kick off on April 19 from 6-8pm at the GHB Peconic Location! @greenportbrew Beginning 4/19 and then the 1st Tuesday of each month for the rest of 2022, you can meet the Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Team and find out how you can get involved in important efforts to give back to the bays! We will have new lectures the first Tuesday of every month about the work of CCE Marine Program happening right at Cedar Beach in Southold! To promote our Back to the Bays Membership Program, if you join our program you will receive a complimentary beer to enjoy during the lecture! Greenport Harbor Brewing Company has been directly supporting our efforts since 2013. They have hosted several fundraising and awareness events in support of our work (Hops for Habitat, Marine Meadows Workshops, Kelp Aquaculture Art + Awareness Event), are proud sponsors of our annual Shellabration fundraiser, and have even brewed a beer (Sea Farm Porter) in support of our work that utilized kelp we harvested from our local waters.
December 6th Local F.I.S.H.: CCE Fisheries Specialist Kristin Gerbino will be presenting on our Local F.I.S.H. Initiative! Guests will learn all about the importance of choosing Fresh, Indigenous, Sustainable, Healthy local seafood and the many programs, cooking tutorials, and culinary events the CCE Fisheries Team puts on in support of this effort. Supporting and buying local seafood helps our economy, maritime heritage, and environment and there are many underutilized local species to try so come learn more and leave feeling inspired to become part of the Local F.I.S.H. movement.
