Long Island Seafood Cuisine Trails

Long Island’s waters are abundant with fresh, delicious fish and shellfish, and our vibrant fishing and aquaculture industries work bravely and tirelessly harvesting these local delicacies.  Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County Marine Program, in collaboration with the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets, has developed a Seafood Cuisine Trail to drive business and tourism to locations proudly serving and selling locally-harvested fish and shellfish. The Long Island Seafood Cuisine Trail is part of the state’s Blue Food Transformation initiative and was created to reinvigorate New York’s seafood industries and strengthen the local food system.

The Seafood Trail App guides customers to Long Island establishments where they can enjoy a fine local seafood meal, pick up a variety of oysters for a local oyster tasting, take-out a quick seafood lunch, or grab some fillet to prepare a fish dinner at home. Follow the trail for locations that are known to appreciate and celebrate the bounty of our waters while boosting business and supporting Long Island’s fishing communities.

The South Trail runs from Bay Shore to Montauk and includes restaurants and fish markets selected for their elevated commitment to choosing local seafood. The North trail, which will run from Oyster Bay to Greenport, is under development. The official launch of the trails is scheduled for Spring 2025.
